As a former sales manager in the pharmaceutical industry, I received my fair share of job applications from individuals who wanted careers with my company. Normally, people would send in their resumes along with a cover letter. I found it quite interesting to see that in the vast majority of cases, people seemed to put the bulk of their efforts in their resumes with minimal effort in their cover letters.

One of the most important aspects in obtaining a teaching position is the ability to “sell yourself” to a Headteacher. Your initial impression with a prospective Headteacher will be through your CV. Consequently your CV could either get you an interview or relegate you to the “not wanted” list.

When deciding how to write a resume, the most important thing you want to consider is how you can stand out from the others on the employer’s desk. Rather than using form and simply inserting your own information, how to make a resume unique should be your goal. The content of your resume, you cover letter, and listing the experience that makes you the right choice for the job are all important. but don’t neglect the design of the resume either. Eye-catching elements are critical to make your resume look professional, but don’t go overboard with graphics either.

Everywhere you go everybody always gives you the same advice on how to choose a contractor. They simply say get three estimates, and call the Better Business Bureau. There is a much better way to hire a contractor to ensure you get what you want; a quality job at a fair price. Don’t get three estimates.

In the past the best way to find a job was to look up in the newspaper, in its “help wanted” section. Many people have spent hours reading these employment advertisements and most of this time was wasted. When I graduated college I spent many days searching for a job. Reading the advertisements in the newspaper didn’t help me. Finally, even the thought of looking at the “help wanted” section for a local job search made me feel sick.

College students and new graduates often feel they have nothing or very little to include on a new post-graduate resume. College students paid employment, volunteer experience or academic reserach is often seemingly unrelated to their career goals, and aside from that, the only information left to include is education.
